The opening track, 'Hold On To Something' should have been their hit single, and still gets played on new wave stations and has wound up on several anthologies.  'Maybe It's You' is a high energy rocker, later covered by Robert Palmer. Other power pop gems include 'The Light Goes On', 'Dream That Never Dies', and 'Another Day In My Life.' Wilde's  'Heartbreak' is a delight, as is the album's melodramatic title track.

On March 12th 1981, Great Buildings released their first and only album. 'Apart From The Crowd'-- stamped across the plastic sleeve that encased the LP-- was loaded with energetic power pop anthems. Longtime Rembrandts fans will not be disappointed by the first pairing of Solem & Wilde, but this collection stands quite well on its own as new wave/power pop burried treasure, filled with youthful themes and catchy hooks.  Originally released only on vinyl, Apart From The Crowd has been reissued on CD for the first time ever by Wounded Bird Records.
